Kitap\u2019ta \u0130stanbul\u2019daki hamamlar ve hamamlar minvalinde d\u00f6nen olaylar ve ili\u015fkili karakterler anlat\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. Tellaklar\u0131n \u00f6zelliklerinin ve hikayelerinin anlat\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131 kitap d\u00f6nemin ya\u015fam \u015fekline de \u0131\u015f\u0131k tutmaktad\u0131r. \u00d6zellikle 17. y\u00fczy\u0131lda Osmanl\u0131 \u0130stanbul\u2019u e\u015fcinsellik konusunda ne durumda bunu g\u00f6rmemiz a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan ayd\u0131nlat\u0131c\u0131d\u0131r. Eskiden beri T\u00fcrklerin hamam k\u00fclt\u00fcr\u00fc var olmu\u015ftur. Hala daha Turkish Bath olarak d\u00fcnya\u2019da ayr\u0131 bir k\u00fclt\u00fcr kavram\u0131 olarak an\u0131lmaktad\u0131r. Kitapta ge\u00e7en d\u00f6nemde hamamlar\u0131n yaln\u0131zca y\u0131kanmak ve keselenmek amac\u0131yla kullan\u0131lmad\u0131\u011f\u0131, kendine has bir sosyal alan oldu\u011fu g\u00f6zler \u00f6n\u00fcne serilmektedir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dervi\u015f \u0130smail 17. y\u00fczy\u0131l sonlar\u0131nda Ey\u00fcp, Galata, \u00dcsk\u00fcdar ve Emin\u00f6n\u00fc taraflar\u0131ndaki 408 hamamda 2 bin 321 dellak\u0131n \u00e7al\u0131\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 s\u00f6yl\u00fcyor ve bu dellaklardan on birinin maceras\u0131n\u0131 hikaye ediyordu.
